Boost your wellbeing this March with West Sussex Libraries

Boost your wellbeing this March with West Sussex Libraries.

March is West Sussex Libraries’ Wellbeing Month, when we celebrate the many ways that libraries help support our wellbeing. Did you know that reading promotes relaxation and empathy, provides escapism and can boost your mood? Our libraries team has created a list of recommendations for books to boost your mood to help you switch off and reduce stress. If you want some guidance on practical things you can introduce to help improve your wellbeing, the Keep Life Simple book displays at your local library host a range of books on topics such as relaxation, yoga, journalling and mindfulness. Libraries also have special Reading Well booklists on mental health for adults, young people and children, long-term conditions and dementia, all of which are free to reserve and borrow. Don’t worry if you can’t visit the library in person, we can bring books to you with our Home Library Direct service and we also offer members access to eAudiobooks, eBooks, eInformation, eMagazines, eNewspapers and more. Our libraries provide support in many other ways beyond books. We have many regular activities for adults and children where you can meet new people who share your interests and have a chat. During Wellbeing Month we are also holding drop-ins at some libraries from several organisations, including Age UK, the Alzheimer’s Society, Fire and Rescue, Meals on Wheels, Oral Health Prevention Team, West Sussex Mind and the Wellbeing Hubs. Some libraries will also be sharing special wellbeing-themed storytimes and there is a chance to enter a prize draw with our “Hunt the Bear” character hunt for under 12 year olds. See our Wellbeing Month page for all that we have to offer and keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter to find out what else will be happening during the month. For contact details of our 36 libraries please visit our website.
