NUTHURST PARISH COUNCIL UPDATE @ 26/05/2023

At the May 2023 Elections, six Parish Councillors were elected.  Following the elections, three of the six Councillors resigned which has resulted in the Parish Council being ‘inquorate’.  The Parish Council requires 4 councillors to form a ‘quorum’ to enable it to function and make decisions.

When this happens, Horsham District Council, has the power to issue an order to appoint a member to the Parish Council to enable the Parish Council to carry out its functions.  The order will be on the agenda of the next Horsham District Council full council meeting on 21st June 2023 for approval.

Following approval, a member will be appointed who will then attend the next Parish Council meeting which is scheduled for Thursday 29th June 2023, 7.30pm at Copsale Village Hall.  This will enable the Parish Council to co-opt any prospective candidates willing to serve as councillors.

In the meantime, please bear with us as, any council matter needing consideration and approval cannot take place until co-option has taken place and any new councillors are in place.

You can continue to contact the Parish Council regarding any matter, outstanding or otherwise, by emailing the new Parish Clerk, Beccy Anderson at clerk@nuthurst-oc.co.uk or on mobile no. 07795 593368 who will be able to assist you.

Cllr Norman Bryant (Chair)
